Torino boss Sinisa Mihajlovic has said that Joe Hart is giving the team “more confidence” after they pulled off their first home Serie A win over Roma for 26 years.

Hart managed to stop his ex-Manchester City teammate Edin Dzeko throughout the match at the Stadio Olimpico and was a major part of the team’s 3 – 1 victory.

Iago Falque, who is on loan from Roma, managed to score a brace while Andrea Belotti, who has just returned from injury, scored after just eight minutes of play in his first start since thigh trouble.

It was Francesco Totti who managed to pull one back for Roma converting a penalty to score his 250th Serie A goal just two days before his 40th birthday. However, it won’t have been much consolation for the visitors.

After the game Mihajlovic said, “We signed Hart for his enthusiasm, spirit and experience. Before he arrived I spoke to him to understand his spirit. He is a great guy and a wonderful professional”. He went on to say that Hart is an international standard goalkeeper and his presence on the field “makes the rest of the team feel more confident.”

Hart’s growing success with his new team is in stark contrast to his Manchester City exit when he was embarrassingly cast out by new boss Pep Guardiola.

He had a frustrating start with Torino with Andrea Masiello scoring after a weak punch from Hart and the team losing 2 – 1 at Atalanta. However, since then he has kept two clean sheets and performed extremely well during the win over Roma.

Mihajlovic called it the team’s “Best performance of the season” saying that they allowed Roma very few chances but created many of their own.
