Arturo Vidal, the Bayern Munich midfielder, has called upon Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez to join him at “the best team in the world.”
Vidal, a Chile international teammate of Sanchez, has now won the Bundesliga in two consecutive seasons with Bayern Munich.
Sanchez on the other hand was left disappointed over the weekend as Arsenal failed to finish in the Premier League’s top four for the first time in 20 years and as a result they will not be taking part in next season’s Champions League.
Sanchez is out of contract next year and there have been reports linking him with a £55 million summer move to Bayern Munich.
Speaking this week Vidal said, “Of course I would like him to come because he is an extraordinary player. He is doing a great job at Arsenal. I think he still needs to take that step forward to fight to be among the best in the world and, in order for that to happen, he has to join the best team in the world.”
Vidal went on to say that whenever he has been asked by the Bayern executives he tells them that Sanchez is the player that they need to sign, “Everyone wants him now because it’s easier to pay that money now rather than if he had three years left on his contract. We hope he takes the best decision for him and for Chile too, because he is a player that helps us a lot.”
He added that he thinks that Sanchez “would do very well here” and said that he thinks that Arsenal “are not as strong as other big clubs at the moment.”
Elsewhere a Tweet from the Chile FA, which was quickly removed, listed Sanchez as a Bayern Munich player in the country’s Confederations cup squad.
