Fabinho has signed an extension to his contract with Monaco and it seems as if his fellow Manchester United target Tiemoue Bakayoko is set to do the same.
Fabinho, 23, was linked to United after he excelled with Monaco at both right-back and midfield, impressing in both the domestic league and the Champions League.
Bakayoko, 22, has attracted interested from both Manchester United and Chelsea thanks to his impressive displays in defensive midfield.
Fabinho’s contract was due to last until 2021 and Bakayoko is halfway through a five year deal he signed when he joined from Rennes in 2014.
Speaking this week Monaco’s vice-president Vadim Vasilyev said that Fabinho has extended his contract with the club and that Bakayoko is likely to follow suit, “I’ve just extended Fabinho’s contract, and we’re doing the same with [Thomas] Lemar, Bakayoko and [Valere] Germain.”
He also revealed that there has been interest from a Chinese club in one of the players. There have been reports that the club is Tianjin Quanjian and that they are interested in Radamel Falcao.
There are reports that Monaco has already rejected a €50 million offer for the Colombia international who joined from Atletico Madrid for €60 in 2013.
Vasilyev said, “China is becoming a serious player with the sums they are paying for players, and the Chinese are after one of our players. We’re resisting. I have to think like a club official, for the good of the club. Of course, I want to keep the players and win trophies, but there are very few clubs in the world that can resist every offer.”
After Falcao spent two seasons on loan at Manchester United and Chelsea he made an impressive return to Monaco this season scoring 12 times in 14 Ligue 1 games so far.
