Luis Enrique has said that Barcelona will need to pull off a “heroic performance” if they are to overcome the humiliating 4 – 0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 match.
Angel Di Maria scored two goals for PSG while Julian Draxler and Edinson Cavani also found the back of the net in what was a fantastic PSG performance earlier this week.
The score-line equalled Barcelona’s worst ever Champions League defeat and left manager Enrique at a loss to explain what happened.
Speaking after the match he said, “It is difficult. They were superior to us from the start. It was a disastrous night for us in which we were clearly inferior. There’s not much more to say. PSG did what we expected them to do and produced their best version and we were at our poorest.”

Barcelona are now in real danger of being eliminated prior to the quarter-final stage of the Champions League for the first time since 2007. No team has ever gone through after losing 4 – 0 in the first leg of a European match.
However, PSG boss Unai Emery has warned his team against complacency. This was only the second victory the team has managed over Barcelona in 23 attempts under Emery and he feels as if his team has proved a point.
While Emery knows Barcelona faces an enormous task he still said, “The message to the dressing room and to the squad is clear, we still have 90 minutes to go. We know we will suffer in Barcelona, we know it will be a long 90 minutes.”
However, he did praise his team saying “The only feeling I have is that the team had huge effort, and it paid off if we consider the great work of Barcelona”.
