There is good news for Liverpool and bad news for Chelsea ahead of the team’s clash this Friday evening.

Chelsea’s John Terry will miss the game due to a strained ligament in his foot which will keep him side-lined for ten days. Terry collided with Swansea’s Leroy Fer in the last few minutes of the team’s 2 – 2 draw on Sunday and the club has now confirmed his injury.

On Instagram Terry posted about the injury and said that he is “absolutely gutted” but will do everything possible to return to the pitch as soon as possible.

His absence will leave Antonio Conte with a problem in defence for Friday’s game. It seems likely that David Luiz could make his second debut for the team after he returned to the club for £30 million on Deadline Day.

Terry will also be absent for Chelsea’s EFL Cup fixture away to Leicester City on September 20th but he could be ready to return for the Premier League game against Arsenal on September 24th.

However, Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren is set to be back for Friday’s game after he posted an image on Instagram showing that his heavily bruised eye is on the mend.

Lovren was forced to miss Saturday’s victory over Leicester after a training ground accident last week. He posted an image on Saturday showing huge swelling around his eye but a follow up post on Tuesday titled ‘Looks Much Better’ showed great improvement.

The swelling has gone down significantly and it is thought he will soon be back in training.

Lovren, who is 27 years old, is in his third season with Liverpool having joined from Southampton during the summer of 2014 for a fee of £20 million.
