Over the weekend Juventus restored their three point lead at the top of Serie A with a 2 – 0 win at Atalanta. However, just as important as the win is the fact that the club also equalled its record of nine consecutive clean sheets in Serie A and Gianluigi Buffon is getting closer to the Serie A record of 929 minutes without conceding a goal, a record set by AC Milan in 1993/94.
Juventus last conceded a goal when they beat Sampdoria 2 – 1 on January 19th. Since then no player has managed to get past the much loved goalkeeper ‘Gigi’. The team has now gone 843 minutes without conceding so if they can manage to keep a clean sheet for their next match and a bit they will take the record from AC Milan.
This weekend the team will face Sassuolo at home and are sure to do their best to prevent the visitors from scoring. Sassuolo is currently seventh in the league with 44 points and have scored 36 goals and conceded 31.

Assuming that Juventus keeps a clean sheet next weekend the next challenge will be to keep one against Torino the following week. Torino is twelfth in the league with 33 points and have scored 34 goals and conceded 35. Despite the fact that this will be an away game, Juventus is likely to be fairly confident of keeping Torino at bay.
Regardless of the team’s ability to keep a clean sheet they will of course be more focused on winning the league and with just ten weeks of the season remaining it will be interesting to see if they can hold on to their lead at the top. If they do win it will be the fifth consecutive season that they have taken the title.
