Unai Emery, the Paris Saint-Germain coach, has said that he is unaware of any plans by the team to reunite him with Sevilla sporting director Monchi in the summer.
Emery enjoyed three successful years with Monchi at Sevilla during which they won the Europa League each year before the coach moved to France. However, Monchi has confirmed that he will be leaving Sevilla in the summer and he is eager to move to Ligue 1 or Serie A.
PSG’s embarrassing 6-5 aggregate Champions League defeat to Barcelona made it clear that there is a need to change something at the team and many have suggested that Monchi would be the man for the job.
However, when asked about the possibility Emergy was noncommittal, “I know nothing about these things, I am only thinking as far ahead as the next match. We already have a sporting director though. Newspapers say a lot of things but that is normal when you are a club of PSG’s size.”

Emery led training while being watched by the team’s CEO Nasser Al- Khelaifi who was accompanying the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Emery said that, “It was a good visit with the president as well. He spoke with us, the staff and the players. It is good news for PSG. We are united. We already know [PSG’s objectives]. PSG wants to be the best and we aim to be competing for the Champions League title.”
Emery also said that team captain Thiago Silva, defender Marquinhos and midfielder Grzegorz Krychowiak are all absent due to injury. He also confirmed the absences of Thiago Motta and Christopher Nkuntu. Emery also praised a number of players such as Presnel Kimpembe and Giovani Lo Celso.
