Goncalo Guedes, the Paris Saint-Germain player on loan to Valencia, has said that he is still hopeful of a return to his home club.
Guedes moved to Valencia in the summer and has generally impressed with three goals and five assists from seven starts to help and propel the team to second place in La Liga. However, despite being loaned due to too much competition for playing time at PSG he is still eager to return.
Talking to Marca Guedes said, “I would like to return to Paris to fight for a place with the best players in the world. However, I am happy here, I do not know what will happen.”
Guedes joined PSG from Benfica in January and struggled to earn a place in the starting XI during the second half of last season. With Neymar and Kylian Mbappe now at the club Guedes believes that PSG have some of “the best players in the world.”
He said that he could have stayed but he wasn’t sure of getting any playing time and as a 20 year old his first priority is to play.
“It would have been good to stay with the best players in the world. But the most important thing was to play. I chose Valencia and it was the right decision.”
However, based upon his current form and Angel Di Maria, Javier Pastore and Lucas Moura’s uncertain future in Paris, there is a chance that Guedes may be brought back to PSG next summer. If that happens he is likely to be in a good position to reintegrate with the squad after a successful and confidence building season with Valencia.
There have also been reports linking him with Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Manchester United. But he says that he doesn’t know if there is any serious interest.
