Marco Fassone, the AC Milan general manager, has said that he would be open to signing either Zlatan Ibrahimovic or Radamel Falcao as the final addition of the club’s summer spending spree.
In addition to Falcao and Ibrahimovic, Milan has been linked with Torino’s Andrea Belotti and Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Fassone said that at this point nothing has been ruled out.
Speaking to Mediaset Fassone said that he has “not said no to any name” and that the team is “observing many players”. However, he said that they would be making just one more signing in this transfer window.
So far this summer Milan has spent over €200 million on 10 new players including Leonardo Bonucci, Andre Silva, Ricardo Rodriguez and Hakan Calhanoglu. They also gave 18-year-old Gianluigi Donnarumma a new contract making him the highest-paid goalkeeper in Italy.
The team managed to persuade him that they are serious about returning to the top of European football after he had initially refused a new deal. However, it doesn’t seem to have antagonised Milan fans too much and they clearly rallied behind him last week.
Speaking last week Donnarumma said, “I will give everything for Milan” and called himself the team’s biggest fan adding that he is “proud to wear this shirt to the end”.
The team has also been linked with Diego Costa but the striker’s lawyer said before the weekend that he only wants to join his former club Atletico Madrid.
The team coach Vincenzo Montella touched on the rumours surrounding Costa after the team’s 2 – 0 win over Universitatea Craiova secured their place in the Europa League playoffs.
“I don’t want to say anything, but I believe [Costa] is a great player, but there are also other names,” Montella told reporters.
