The Leicester City defender Christian Fuchs has said that he hopes the team is up against one of Europe’s top clubs in the next round of the Champions League after the Foxes secured their progression with one game to spare.

Leicester City are guaranteed to finish top of Group G whatever happens this week after they defeated Club Brugge 2 -1 in the last round of matches.

It is possible that they may find themselves up against a team such as Real Madrid or Bayern Munich in the next round of the competition but Fuchs has said that he sees no reason why the team shouldn’t be able to defeat one of Europe’s top sides.

“It will be the same like winning the Premier League. We are good at being the underdogs and giving our best. We are really happy playing with Leicester in the Champions League. It makes us proud, then in the knock-out stage anything is possible.”

He went on to say that he feels they have a good quality team and that anything is possible. Especially given the surprise league title that they pulled off last year.

Fuchs’ views were echoed by winger Marc Albrighton who also said that it would be “special” to play a team such as Real Madrid or Barcelona. He thinks that over two legs it would be a fantastic match and the “occasion would be immense”.

He explained that many on the team may not have the chance to play in the competition ever again and that they want to make the most of it this year and play as many games as possible, enjoying themselves and winning games and making as much progress as possible.

Leicester face Porto on Wednesday in the next round of group stage games.
