Juventus vs Real Madrid – Tuesday, 3rd April
Juventus have won the Champions League twice and have dominated Italian football in recent years. Last season they reached the Champions League final and lost out to their opponents in this match, Real Madrid.

Real Madrid have won this tournament for the last two seasons and are looking to make history by winning it for a third time in a row. They have won the tournament more times than any other team and they are sure to come out fighting.
Juventus have the home advantage here and their home record this season is excellent. They have won 12 and drawn 3 of their last 15 home matches in all competitions. However, two of those three draws were in the Champions League, they were held to a goalless draw by Barcelona in the group stages and to a 2 – 2 draw by Tottenham Hotspur in the Round of 16.
Real Madrid made it through to this round after defeating Paris Saint-Germain in the last. The match against PSG was expected to be a real test for the team, but in the end they came through 5 – 2 on aggregate and won both legs. As a result, despite slightly disappointing form in their home league this season, they have shown that they are still capable of winning the big matches.
Tottenham Hotspur proved that it is possible to break down Juventus’ defence at home and Real Madrid certainly have the talent to find an away goal. Madrid have scored at least one goal in their last ten away Champions League games and they will certainly work hard to maintain this record. Juventus will know that it is vital that they take a lead with them into the second leg of this match.
Juventus’ Gonzalo Higuaín has shown good form in the competition scoring three times over two legs against Spurs. Pipta is the team’s leading marksman in the tournament with five goals. Paulo Dybala is also playing well, he scored four goals in eight day s in victories against Lazio, Tottenham and Udinese.
Real Madrid’s stop scorer in the competition is Cristiano Ronaldo with twelve goals so far. He has scored seven times in his five matches against Juventus and will be seeking his eighth. The team captain, Sergio Ramos, is also a danger and Juventus will be keeping a close eye on him.

Sevilla vs Bayern Munich – Tuesday, 3rd April

Sevilla have a great history in European football and will looking to use this to help them reach the semi-finals. However, they are facing Bayern Munich, who have won the competition five times and are currently dominating German football.
Sevilla haven’t lost a home Champions League match since 2016 and their form in the Europa League has been excellent at home. However, domestically they have been slipping in recent weeks and they lost at home to Valencia earlier this month.
Bayern Munich comfortably saw off Besiktas in the last round, winning the home leg 5 – 0 and then the second leg in Turkey 3 – 1. They suffered a surprise defeat to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga recently, but they are still easily leading the domestic league.
Most people agree that Manchester United underperformed in the last round and Sevilla had things a bit too easy. However, this is highly unlikely to happen against Bayern Munich, who are known for their German efficiency.
Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder is the man to watch. He scored twice at Old Trafford, his seventh and eighth Champions League goals this season, and he also scored in both games against Liverpool in the group stages. The team won the Europa League three times between 2014 and 2016 so they can perform on the big stage. However, it would be a mistake to forget how easily Liverpool took them to pieces at the same venue just a few months ago.
Since Bayern Munich split with Carlo Ancelotti following their 3 – 0 loss at PSG, they have won six Champions League games in a row. They haven’t won the Champions League since 2013, when Jupp Heynckes was last manager, and they now look like good contenders to win it again this year.
— FC Bayern München (@FCBayern) April 2, 2018
Heynckes has warned that the team cannot afford to be complacent going into this match. After the draw he said, “They are a really good team. If you watched them play against United, even after the 1-0 lead they noticed that United needed two goals and they played really good football. We can’t afford to celebrate already. Of course, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester City are playing very well, Liverpool are playing well, but we had five English teams [in the round of 16] and we were talking about the best league in the world and three of them are gone, so we must take these guys seriously.”
Despite this, Bayern Munich are clear favourites to win with odds of 7/10 while Sevilla is at 15/4 and a draw is at 59/20.
Barcelona vs Roma – Wednesday, 4th April
Barcelona will be pleased with the draw and happy to avoid some of the top teams as they continue their campaign to win the competition for a sixth time. Roma, on the other hand have just one European trophy to their name, the 1960/61 Inter City Fairs Cup. Furthermore, they have only progressed past the quarterfinals in the Champions League once before, when they lost the final of the 1983/84 tournament to Liverpool.

Barcelona have been hugely impressive at home all season, they are undefeated at Camp Nou in La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. As a result, Roma certainly face a challenge if they want to end this leg with an advantage.
Roma have been inconsistent when playing away this season. They have struggled against some of the big teams and lost to Atletico Madrid and Juventus as well as the first leg of the Round of 16 match with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Ukraine.
Barcelona are a team of big names and they will all be looking to impress. Similarly, Roma has some quality players such as Edin Dzeko and Radja Nainggolan. However, Barcelona, having now pretty much secured the league title, will have more energy to focus on this game than Roma and that is likely to be apparent in the results.
Despite being the obvious underdogs, Roma boss Eusebio di Francesco has remained defiant and welcomed the chance to play “the world’s best player”, Lionel Messi.
Speaking after the draw Francesco said, “”We’re happy with the draw because we’re proud to be in the quarter-finals. We know we’ll be up against one of the best teams in the world with the best player in the world, Messi. We’ll approach the tie with a positive mind-set. We knew we’d have to face a tough side in the quarter-finals. It’s a tie both teams are looking forward to and we’ll go into it with our feet on the ground.”

While he sounds positive, the odds on Barcelona to win are 1/4 while the odds on Roma are a massive 11/1.
Liverpool vs Manchester City – Wednesday, 4th April
Liverpool are coming to this match as the only team to have defeated Manchester City in the Premier League this season.
— Liverpool FC (@LFC) April 2, 2018
Liverpool have reached the quarterfinals for the first time in nine years after seeing off Porto in the last round. City defeated Basel in the last round, but they did lose the second leg of the match 2 – 1, a rare defeat for them this season.
While Liverpool are sure to be boosted by the knowledge that they recently defeated City, they have been inconsistent in big games this season. Manchester City on the other hand has been amazingly consistent. However, Manchester City have never won the Champions League while Liverpool have won it five times, most recently in the 2004/5 season.
Liverpool will be looking to take a lead with them to the second leg of this match, but more importantly, they will want to prevent City from scoring any valuable away goals. Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in their last three home Champions League games and a fourth in a row is not beyond their capabilities.
Virgil van Dijk has said that it is going to be a “very hard” game and said that Liverpool need to be “100 per cent or even better” to beat City over two legs.
His attitude is reflected in the betting odds. Manchester City are slight favourites to win this game at 7/5 while Liverpool trail at 9/5 and a draw is at 5/2. All in all, it looks certain to be a thrilling match.
